Werbach, 84, of Lone Tree, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  Funeral services were held Friday, April 30, 2021, at the Lone Tree American Legion.  Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery with military rites provided by the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church or the Lone Tree Fire and Rescue in memory of Donald.   Sympathy notes may be left for the Werbach family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.  The Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree has been entrusted with services.

Donald was born April 24, 1937, to Mabel and Carl Werbach.  He graduated from Iowa State University as an electrical engineer and after the early death of his father returned to the family farm.

Donald was a member of the Mason Lodge for over 50 years, a Township Trustee, and a member of the United Presbyterian Church.  In his work as a Mason and a Trustee he was a fierce and loyal advocate for Lone Tree’s Fire and Rescue Service.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Hall in 1959. This union was blessed with four children.  The couple farmed and raised their family south of Lone Tree.

Don was an engineer, always considering the innerworkings, and a steward of the land through and through.  He could repair almost anything, he could engineer a design, build, was a good carpenter.  He valued education and made every effort to improve whatever he was focused on.  He enjoyed gardening and was looking forward to garden tomatoes.  In addition to being a skilled gardener he also enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and develop.  He has two grandsons graduating in May Ryan (Shawn) from high school and Christopher (Lisa) from medical school.

Donald will be greatly missed by his wife: Nancy of 61 years; their children:  Lisa (Chuck) Noty of Atlantic, Iowa, Lori (Phil) Brackus of Conifer, Colorado, Brian (Julie); and Shawn (Vicki) both of Lone Tree; nine grandchildren; one grand-child; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Francis, Carolyn, and Charles.
