The Hills City Council met on Monday, Jan. 8, for a regularly scheduled meeting draped in the snow.

At this meeting, the council discussed a future roads project. They moved forward with the project, allowing Shive-Hattery to come up with a game plan for how the project will work and the details. It is expected that Shive-Hattery will have more details come April.

The project would be the start of helping repair more roads in the future.

“It’s good to have a nice long-term investment in our infrastructure,” Hills Mayor Tim Kemp said in favor of the project.

The council also approved Hills Bank as the city depository, something the city does at the start of each year.

The council reviewed a complaint about a semi-cab that was towed on Tuesday, Jan. 2. It was on the agenda to potentially waive the towing fee. However, the owner of the semi-cab did not attend the meeting to plead their case.

The council decided to not waive the fee. This is because of the numerous complaints they received and the dialogue they had with the owner before the semi-cab was towed.

The council also shelved Resolution 2024-2 Approval of Final Plat for Compound. They expect to revisit this resolution at a later date.

The Hills City Council will next meet Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m. for a budget workshop and will meet again on Monday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. for a regular meeting.
