The Washington County Communications Center has been made aware of a wireline or landline phone issue for all Kalona Telephone (KCTC) subscribers. Currently those customers have no service and cannot call 911 on their landline. We are encouraging anyone with an emergency to utilize a cellular phone to call 911. They have been tested and work. We do not know what caused the outage at this time, nor do we know the duration of the outage.
"We have been made aware that they are working on the problem," said Cara Sorrells of Washington County Communications Center.
Alliant Energy cut a fier optic cable.
Phones should all be restored by 2 p.m. this afternoon.
