Kenneth Ray Schipper

Kenneth Ray Schipper was born Sept. 1, 1946, in Aplington, Iowa, the son of John and Jennie (Harms) Schipper.  He graduated from Aplington High School.  On Aug. 24, 1975, Kenneth was united in marriage to Aline Lewis in Aplington. 

They lived and farmed in the Aplington community for many years, retiring in 1999 and moved to Kalona. He had many treasured friends at Bethel Reformed Church, Kalona Mennonite Church and Prairie Flower Baptist Church. 

Kenneth passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020, at Windmill Manor in Coralville, at the age of 73 years.

Kenneth is survived by his wife: Aline; two children: Melissa (Dave) Buchberger of Mosinee, Wisc. and Daniel (Stephanie) Schipper of Brooklyn; six grandchildren: Mickella Lamb, Bryce Schipper, Briggs Schipper, Briley Schipper, Lucas Buchberger, and Emily Buchberger; two sisters: Esther Woodley of Allison and Inez (Charles) Kuester of Royal; and a brother: Lester (Caryn) Schipper of Aplington. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Irma Wulke.

A private funeral service will be held at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona.  Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona.  There will be no visitation due to the current restrictions on social gatherings due to COVID-19.  A general memorial fund has been established. 

The family wishes to express their gratefulness for the many acts of sympathy directed to them at this time.
