Lone Tree is heading into its conference tournament on a strong note.
The Lions (5-9) defeated Pekin three games to one in its match this past Thursday in Lone Tree.
Ellen Carow, a junior, led a 20-ace attack by the Lions at the serving line with seven aces. She also had five kills and five blocks.
The Lions won the first set by a score of 25-21 and the second set, 25-22. After losing the third set, 25-17, the Lions closed out the match with a 25-9 win in the fourth set.
Six Lone Tree players scored aces, including Kylie Patterson, a junior, with five. Patterson also had a match-best six kills.
Skylar Smith, a senior, had three blocks and three kills.
Erika Coleman had six aces and a pair of kills for Pekin (5-5).
Winning its third consecutive match, Mediapolis topped Lone Tree by scores of 25-22, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18.
Lone Tree junior Kylie Patterson had a team-high seven kills and four aces.
Skylar Smith, a senior, had six kills and Chloe Mills had a match-high seven aces. Also serving strongly was Josie Mullinnix with four aces.
Josie Wolter scored a match-high 10 kills, along with two blocks and three aces, for Mediapolis (3-4).
