Marvin A. Borntrager was born Aug. 31, 1932, the son of Alton M. and Katie (Miller) Borntrager.  He attended Prairie Dale School. 

Marvin was united in marriage to Minerva Yoder on Oct. 11, 1956. He was a lifelong farmer. Marvin was a faithful member of the Old Order Amish Church until his death. 

Marvin died Sunday, May 2, 2021, at his home due to complications of congestive heart failure at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 2 days.

He is survived by wife: Minerva; their children: Virgil Borntrager, Emma Faye (Earl) Ropp, Lynn (Marilyn) Borntrager, Merle (Norma) Borntrager all of Kalona, Rosalyn (Everett) Miller of Ava, Illinois, Ila (Warren) Miller and Kathryn (Mark) Helmuth all of Kalona; 44 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother: Neal (Anna Marie) Borntrager of Kalona; a sister: Nelda (Eldon T.) Miller of Kalona; a sister-in-law: Edna Borntrager of Kalona; and two brothers-in-law: William Miller of Spencer, Wisconsin and Glenn Bender of Humbolt, Nebraska. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Duane Borntrager and Wallace Borntrager; two sisters: Mattie Miller and Anna Bender; and a grandson: Samuel Elijah Borntrager.

Funeral services were Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the Mark Helmuth residence. Burial was at the Brenneman Cemetery.
