Mid-Prairie Students Celebrate Earth Day

Posted

As part of Mid-Prairie’s Earth Day Community Clean Up Day, third and fourth grade students picked up over 120 bags of trash and sticks at North Park in Wellman on Thursday, April 22.  Preschool and kindergarten students picked up trash and sticks around their school building.

“They did a lot of work out there,” said Wellman City Administrator Kelly Litwiller. “They had tons of stuff that they picked up and they should be proud of what they’ve done.”

The students spent two hours at the park, including time to enjoy sack lunches outside.

“It’s a great way for our kids to give back to their community,” said West Elementary Principal Bill Poock. “Teresa Lampe from the park board was in total amazement that 200 kids can go and make such a difference in a single hour.”
