On Monday, August 2, a mobile vaccination clinic next to the Kalona Sales Barn was able to help community members with free COVID-19 vaccines. Over 12 people were able to receive their first dose of either the Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Many participants were local, with ages from 12 and up, the clinic also had a few out-of-state patients as well.
The vaccination clinic was sponsored by Rural Health and Safety of Eastern Iowa, with a goal to “help anyone who needs it”. All participants were given a $10 gift card for their contribution.
In July there was a vaccination clinic held on the 4th, but they unfortunately did not garner any participants.
“We’re very proud of how it went today, compared to last time. I’m glad we were able to reach more people through the news and local pharmacies,” explained a local nurse.
Rural Health and Safety of Eastern Iowa encourages locals and their families to get their COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible.
