Richard Lee Ehrenfelt, 67, of The Villages, Fla., passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020.

Richard was born on May 19, 1953, in San Fernando, Calif., the son of Milton B. Ehrenfelt Jr. and Betty Lou (Jackson) Ehrenfelt. Richard’s family moved from California to Kalona, Iowa, when Richard was young. He went onto graduate in 1972 from Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman, Iowa.

Richard was a master craftsman and jack-of-all-trades, an inventor, creator, entrepreneur, handyman, chef, golf-enthusiast, hunter, and fisherman. Through his entrepreneurial vision, Richard made custom electric golf cart doors for numerous people in his community, which lead to a successful small business.

But most important to Richard, and his most proud achievement, was the role he played as an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, family member, and friend.
Richard’s natural warmth, charisma, and sense of humor made people gravitate toward him. He will be deeply missed by many.

He is survived by his wife: Kathy of The Villages, Fla.; his children: Mitchell Ehrenfelt of Richland, Iowa, Lindsey (Jeremy) Kane of Grimes, Iowa, and Aundrea Bayne of South Fla.; his grandchildren: Ava and Aubrey Kane of Grimes, Taylor, Rachel and Sloane Bayne of South Florida; and sisters: Diane Cunningham of Kirksville, Mo. and Karen (Tom) Waters of Kalona.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents: Milton and Betty Ehrenfelt; and other members  of  his  extended family.

According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Baldwin Brothers, A Funeral and Cremation Society of Wildwood, Fla.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
