Shetler, Hershberger lead pack for Mid-Prairie boys at Prairie Invite

The Mid-Prairie boys cross country team started out their 2019 campaign with a fifth-place finish of 11 teams at Cedar Rapids Prairie. 

Thaddeus Shetler was the first across the line for Mid-Prairie, finishing 15th in the orange division with a time of 18:14. The orange division was made up of teams from Class 2A and 3A schools. There were 24 total teams running in the race between the two divisions. 

Chandler Hershberger wasn’t far behind, crossing the finish line with a time of 18:36. Hershberger gained some time on those around him, crossing the halfway mat with a time of 9:07. The next six finishers after him crossed the halfway point beofre him. 

Nathan Wallington and Lucas Bontrager crossed nearly side-by-side at 18:46 and 18:47. 

The final Mid-Prairie scoring member was Jamison Stutzman. The junior crossed at 19:13 in 36th place in the orange division and 106th overall. 

Mid-Prairie ran two freshmen in the varsity lineup in Wallington and Mose Yoder. Yoder finished 56th with a time of 20:08.9. 

Other varsity finishers include Luke Albright in 21:21, Micah Hostetler in 21:33, Gunner Gingerich in 22:45 and Levi Stultz in 23:30.
