Viola I. “Vi” Stutzman, 73, of Hills, passed from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital following complications of a stroke. The family will greet friends at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona on Friday, Nov. 10, from 3 – 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at 11 a.m., at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A private family burial will follow at the Wellman Public Cemetery.   A memorial fund has been established for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Viola Ida (Eaton) Stutzman was born March 5, 1950, in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Eugene and Anne (Matison) Eaton. She graduated from high school in Mequon, Wisconsin, and earned her teacher’s certificate. On June 6, 1975, she was united in marriage to Leon Stutzman. The couple later divorced.
Vi held many jobs in her life, and for the past 10 years has been employed in accounting at the Hills Bank in Hills. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and cooking. Vi had a heart for hospitality and loved to be with people, especially her family and coworkers.
Survivors include three children: Tara Murray (Tim Hansen) of Wellman, Kelly Stutzman of Makawao, Hawaii, and Seth Stutzman of Hills; three grandchildren: Makensie Hansen, David Murray, and Taylor Hansen. She is also survived by two sisters: Sara Hamilton of Roswell, Georgia, and MaryAlice (Fred) Robinson of Glendale, Arizona; and one brother: Eugene Eaton of Roswell, Georgia.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister: Nancy Keklekian; a nephew: Michael Robinson; and her husband: Leon in 2000.
