The ratings-percentage index rankings were released again after Week 7, giving a closer insight into who the final 16 teams in each class will be.
The ratings formula works by using winning percentage (37.5%), opponents’ winning percentage (37.5%) and opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage (25%).
Lone Tree dropped two spots from 27th to 29th in 8-Player after a loss to No. 9 Iowa Valley. Lone Tree remains the top team with three wins in the standings, but 23 teams currently have five or more wins.
The Lions will finish out the season with WACO (No. 31) and English Valleys (No. 30) to close out the season. They are still technically in the mix for a district title. Current district teams ranked above them include Iowa Valley (No. 9), Montezuma (No. 11), HLV (No. 14) and New London (No. 19).
The Golden Hawks are No. 29 in Class 2A after a win this week over No. 38 Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont to push their record to 4-3. The Golden Hawks are currently ninth in the rankings of teams with four wins. 17 teams currently have five or more wins and the Golden Hawks are ranked below three teams with three wins.
Mid-Prairie will finish out their season with games against Davis County (No. 46) and Albia (No. 51). The Golden Hawks are likely limited to qualifying via a district title, so they need Williamsburg to lose both remaining games this season.
The Raiders are currently No. 22 in the rankings.
The Highland Huskies are also No. 29 in the rankings, but for Class A. The Huskies dropped to 4-3 after a loss to Durant. (No. 17).
Of 4-3 teams, the Huskies are 10th of 13 teams with that record.
Their final two games of the season are against Cardinal (No. 27) and Belle Plaine (No. 15). BGM remains the top team in the district in the RPI standings at No. 6 with a 6-1 record.
The Week 9 standings will determine the playoff field with each district champion earning an automatic bid. The next eight at-large teams in the RPI rankings will earn a playoff spot. This year district ties will be broken by RPI.
