I basically grew up with a basketball in my hand. If it wasn’t a basketball, it was at volleyball or a softball. All my life I have been active in sports. I love all types, and there isn’t a sport I dislike.

After high school, I knew that I wanted to be a journalist. So I pursued a journalism degree and graduated in May from Simpson College.

After graduating from college, I didn’t realize how much I would actually miss playing sports. My senior year at Simpson College our basketball team made it to the second round of the Division III National Tournament. It was an exciting year. And to top it all off, I watched my sister Carrie play in her fourth basketball state championship game.

In August, I got married. Currently my husband and I are living in Iowa City. Darren, my husband, is in his first year of dental school at the University of Iowa. We are die-hard Hawkeye fans.

I’m excited about taking on this position because this job gives me the opportunity to do what I love the most. Another one of the positives things about taking this particular job is the support of the community. I have been told that this area supports its area athletes, which I think is important for a small community.

In the coming weeks, I will be experimenting with the sports page. If you have any suggestions, I would be more than willing to talk about your ideas. I am going to do my best to cover as many sports as I can. By the way, please let me know if I spell a name wrong or anything that needs to be corrected. I need to be held responsible for these pages.

This is a great job opportunity for me. I hope you will enjoy what I write.
