This must be the year of school reunions. August 14th was the Pacific one at the Townhouse.
Our congratulations to the Dean Swartzendrubers, whose Open House was August 14. They were married on September 3, 1949. They did attend a Burkey reunion in Colo recently.
Orie Wengers were recent guests in the community. They live in South Carolina now.
A patient to a doctor, performing a physical examination, “Please hurry, I am scheduled for a second opinion in 30 minutes.”
Remember the Kid’s Country Club where Country Livin’ was? It will be open Saturday, August 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Daryl Zehr and Paul Shetler were coffee drinkers this week— trying to catch up on all the latest. Reminiscing were Wilbur Swartzendruber and Paul about taking 350 horses across the Atlantic to Greece 50 some years ago.
Earl Linder, a long time friend from Springdale, Michigan, stopped by on Friday. It had been over 50 years since I last saw him. His son accompanied him.
We lost two good friends this past week: Ralph Miller and Chester Miller. They will long be remembered for all the things they did for the community and church. Our sympathies to both families.
I was surprised to see where Fanny Smucker is now 90 years old. Her husband had been the line foreman for Farmer’s Co-op Electric Company for years, now stationed in Frytown.
So sorry to see Mark Adkins leave our town. We are not only losing a sports writer, but an Optimist. Good luck, Mark. Your sports information was great for a town of this size.
The word for the week is pathos. It means sympathy for someone. This may be a misfortune, death, accident or even a child pinching his finger. Showing concern, caring for someone. Tell someone a pathos happening and how you handled it.
