Alan James Lovetinsky, 52, of Washington, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital after being seriously ill for the past two weeks.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Widdel officiating.  Calling hours will begin at noon Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m.  Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials have been established for his son Devin’s college education.  Online condolences may be sent for Alan’s family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.

Alan was born July 30, 1969, in Iowa City, the son of Richard and Oneth (Gates) Lovetinsky.  He attended Mid-Prairie Schools graduating in 1988.  He was united in marriage to Rebecca Krebs on May 25, 1996, at Rebecca’s parents house near Riverside.

Alan lived most of his life in Washington and Johnson Counties.  He was a maintenance planner for Oral B in Iowa City.  He previously worked at the Riverside Pallet Company.  Alan was an avid gun collector.  He constructed his own shooting range and spent hours shooting his guns.  He enjoyed deer hunting with the “Wellman hunting group”.  Alan loved to talk, tell stories and have family and friends over every fourth of July for fireworks.

He is survived by his wife: Becky Lovetinsky of Washington; son: Devin Lovetinsky of Washington; mother: Oneth Lovetinsky of Iowa City; father: Richard Lovetinsky of Kalona; sister-in-law: Peggy (David) Miller of Riverside; brother-in-law: Richard (Nicole) Krebs of Lone Tree; brother-in-law: Randy (Andrea) Krebs of Gowrie, Iowa; and sister-in-law: Sandra Krebs of Ainsworth.

Alan was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Harold Krebs in 2018; and his mother-in-law: Dorothy Krebs in October of 2021.
