The Alpha Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Wednesday, October 6 in the Captain’s Table, Washington, for dinner at 6 p.m. Kathleen Almelien, Ella Mae Ruppert and Leona Kos served as hostesses.
Charlotte Lindmeier introduced the four panel members, Bert Turner from Washington State Bank, Mike Christensen from Hy-Vee, Jack Dillon representing the Safety Center, and Bernie Oleska from Alliant Energy. Dillon is chairman of the county Y2K Committee, now the Emergency Disaster Response Committee.
The panel focused on how Y2K may affect their businesses, how they are preparing for possible problems and what can be done to be ready, as well as some things not to do.
Pam Humphreys, president, conducted the business meeting with 29 members present.
Joy Batterson reported about Elizabeth Zimmer, a member who is a resident of the U.P. Home who celebrated here 101st birthday in September. Joy passed around pictures of Elizabeth with the 101 yellow roses she received from a long-ago student.
