The Alpha Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Wednesday, December 1 at the Captain’s Table in Washington for a 6 p.m. dinner with thirty members present. The hostesses for the evening were Joy Batterson, Sally Beezley and Wanda Zuehlke.
Pam Humphreys, president, conducted the business meeting.
“Humor for the Holidays” (with humor in the work place) was the program planned by Mary Curley and Laura Conaway. It was an enjoyable and thought-provoking evening, including the following: Christmas carols; A Merry Mix Up; first-grade Proverbs, with more composed by the group; a reading, The Best Teacher, given by Lois Gugel and Julie Zahs and other items.
There were both sad and happy events to note. Sympathy was extended to member Anita Davis, whose husband Burdette passed away recently. Leona Kos, a valued member who recently passed away, was memorialized. On the happy side, Casey Nicholas was born to member Amy Shalla and husband Randy, and Joy Batterson has a new grandson. Also, Louise Frakes won the State Music Education Association Traveling Trophy, which will reside at Mid-Prairie for a year.
Sometime in January, various “Community Sharing Projects” will be carried out in the five school centers. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be at the Captain’s Table in Washington on Wednesday, February 2, at 6 p.m.
