Born October 30, 1904, in Wellman, he was the son of John M. and Grace E. (Scott) Smith. He graduated from Wellman High School.
Alvin Smith, 94, died Friday, May, 1999, in his home in Wellman following a brief illness.
Services were Monday, May 10, in the Kalona United Christian & Baptist Church with the Reverend Scott Stapleton officiating. Burial was in the Wellman Cemetery.
Born October 30, 1904, in Wellman, he was the son of John M. and Grace E. (Scott) Smith. He graduated from Wellman High School.
He married Lucille Dewey, May 10, 1941 in Stewart, Nevada. The couple resided in Oakland and San Bruno, California before returning to Wellman.
Mr. Smith worked as a utilities superintendent for the City of Wellman from August of 1951 to the early 1970s. He was a member of the United Christian & Baptist Church in Kalona.
Survivors include several cousins and special friends Ruth Rodgers and her family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in October of 1983.
Memorial donations may be made to Kalona Christian & Baptist Church.
