Robin K. Hennes, executive director of the Amana Convention and Visitors Bureau, stressed the importance of positive attitude in dealing with tourists and other customers.
Hennes was the featured speaker at the monthly luncheon of the Kalona Chamber of Commerce Monday noon, March 29. She praised Kalona for its fine chamber facility and the efforts being made to attract tourists. She noted the Amanas and Kalona need to work together in promoting tourism. She gave those attending a copy of tips about hospitality for the front line ambassadors who are used in training in the Amanas.
Clean up day
Keeping with this year’s chamber theme of Positively Kalona, President Ron Slechta announced that the Community Appearance Committee is promoting a cleanup/fix up of the downtown before the annual quilt show. Firemen and city crews will work with the chamber members to clean up and wash down city streets the morning of Saturday, April 10.
A community-wide cleanup day is planned for May 8. Trees Forever will also be available that day according to City Administrator Doug Morgan.
