Services were Tuesday, January 11, in the George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium, Iowa City, with Dr. John McKinstry officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City.

Born July 10, 1914 in Washington County, she was the daughter of Milton and Anna (Vodicka) Novy. She attended rural schools in the Wellman area and Wellman High School.

Anita Margelene Geringer, 85, formerly of Iowa City, died Sunday, January 9, in the Washington Care Center, Washington, following a long illness.

Services were Tuesday, January 11, in the George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium, Iowa City, with Dr. John McKinstry officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City.

Born July 10, 1914 in Washington County, she was the daughter of Milton and Anna (Vodicka) Novy. She attended rural schools in the Wellman area and Wellman High School.

She was united in marriage to Lauren R. Geringer April 13, 1938 in Riverside.

Mrs. Geringer was a member of First Christian Church, Iowa City.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Norma Rarick of Iowa City and Karen and Jim Hency of Rogers, Arkansas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Jean Geringer of Tucson, Arizona and Darrell Geringer of Iowa City; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; her parents; one daughter, Marsha Kelley and one brother, Roy Novy.

A memorial fund has been established.

George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium in charge of arrangements.
