Born August 5, 1920, she was the daughter of Samuel R. and Nita (Stamp) Bell. She attended rural Keota school and graduated from Keota High School. She married Harold Bohr in Harper in 1937. In 1968 she married Kermit Jones in Monmouth, Illinois.

Betty Jones, 78, of Kalona died Monday, May 3, 1999, in Pleasantview Home following a lengthy illness.

Services were 10 a.m., Wedensday, May 5, in Peterseim Funeral Home with the Reverend Scott Stapleton officiating. The body will be cremated.

Born August 5, 1920, she was the daughter of Samuel R. and Nita (Stamp) Bell. She attended rural Keota school and graduated from Keota High School. She married Harold Bohr in Harper in 1937. In 1968 she married Kermit Jones in Monmouth, Illinois.

Mrs. Jones worked as a nursing assistant at Washington County Hospital, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the Veterans Administration Hospital, Iowa City.

Suriviors include two daughters and their husbands, Karla and Gordon Gibson, Marion, and Neta and Steve Reif, Kalona; six grandchildren, Kelly Gibson, Leslie Croy, Dana Ivers, Kim Bowlin, Michael Reif and Nancy Roth; seven great-grandchildren, Olivia and Carly Croy, Adam and Emma Ivers, Sydney and Chelsea Bowlin and Cyenna Reif; one sister, Beverly McClarahan of Lake Charles, Louisana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Harold Bohr, her second husband, Kermit Jones in 1990, an infant son, Larry Bohr, and one brother, James Bell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Keokuk County Hospice or Washington County Humane Society.
