Beverly Jean Richards was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Tipton, Iowa, the third daughter of Herbert and Edith P. (Gladfelter) Richards, joining sisters, Mary and Shirley.  She graduated from Tipton high School in 1950 and attended Business College in Davenport.

On May 25, 1952, she married Wallace Mueller, her high school sweetheart and love of her life.  He passed on Oct. 9, 2000.

They began farming south of Tipton, moved to Iowa City in 1961 and farmed for 45 years.  She was very proud to call herself a “farm wife”.  While farming she worked for Lang and Kennedy Veterinarian.  She filled her time working for the US Census Bureau, ACT and was a volunteer driver for the VA.

Her love for music showed by singing for more than 15 years with the Sweet Adelines and 10 years playing her saxophone with the New Horizons Band, proudly holding first chair.  Playing kept her young.  She had a beautiful voice and sang often for weddings and church.  She and Wally always loved a good game of euchre with great friends and family.

Beverly will be deeply missed by her five children: Brent (Sonia) Mueller of Lone Tree, Sheryl (Rik) Ryan of Cedar Rapids, Teresa (Steve) Etzel of Marion, Randall (Angie) Mueller of Iowa City and Jennifer (Travis) Clark of Osceola; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister: Shirley VonMuenster Wilkins of Tipton; and many nieces and nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister: Mary Challis.

We wish to thank Legacy Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice for the care of mom.
