WASHINGTON
Much of the Washington County Board of Health meeting June 19 concerned plans and preparations to move to new facilities at Orchard Hill on Lexicon Blvd., starting the following week with the help of Two Men and a Truck. The latter were hired for two days. However, the department had paid July rent for its current location in the former Federation Bank building in Washington.
The department has also “cleaned house” prior to the move discarding and donating things to other services.
Members agreed that there is more space in the new facilities, especially when it was noted they need freezers, inside one of which are vaccines that must be kept at an absolute temperature. They also will need some new furniture since much of what they have used since moving to the building more than a decade ago is bank property.
Also discussed was signage, especially for clinic location within the building, and security also had been addressed by the supervisors.
At its Tuesday meeting, the board was told by supervisor Marcus Fedler that while July 4 may be a little tight to meet, much can be done this week.
At its meeting the health board also discussed having an open house when “everything is in place” to acquaint the public with the lotion and services. The department is also maintaining its regular vaccination schedule.
