WASHINGTON

In its half-hour meeting Tuesday, the Washington County Board of Supervisors reviewed the proposed job description for an Assistant IT Director to maintain and operate the complex positions of the county’s information technology systems, approving it by a 4-1 one. Supervisor Marcus Fedler was opposed.

The position, which is expected to be filled this spring, has a salary range of $80,000 to $95,000 and requires an associate or bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years related on-the-job experience in computer technology or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience to show ability to perform the duties required.

During the discussion, it was explained that it is seen as a transitional step, that the assistant would become the IT director following retirement of the current one. In reviewing the job description, Fedler suggested including what it required at the state level. Others noted that changes could be made in the description’s requirements as needed, especially considering it involves network, server systems and applications administration.

In other business, the board deferred to next week action on the resolution to set a public hearing to enter into General Obligation Loan Agreements to help finance secondary roads projects. The delay is to compete the paperwork requirements.

The board approved five personnel changes for secondary roads, specifically: Scott Gerot, equipment operator, from $25.91 to $26.11 hourly, effective January 25; Paul C. Stumpf, equipment operator, termination effective February 16, who resigned to take a position elsewhere; Michael Boshart, equipment operator, from $25.91 to $26.11 hourly, effective January 31; Logan Hesser, equipment operator, from $25.91 to $26.11 hourly, effective January 25; Mike Rousch, equipment operator, $24.92 to $25.12 hourly, effective January 25.

The board approved new employee Elizabeth Lyn Wade, Washington County Communications, at $23.25 hourly, effective March 4, with increases for shift changes.

The board made some appointments and reappointments to county commissions, boards and committees.
