Carlos Valenzuela had a top ten finish for the Highland boys. He came in ninth with a finish of 20:33 and Brendan Schnoebelen was 40th with a time of 25:14. Katelyn Waters finished 20th for the Highland girls with a time of 27:36.

Hillcrest, Highland, and Lone Tree will be at the 1A state-qualifying meet hosted by Regina at the Kickers soccer park in Iowa City on Thursday, October 21.

Bontrager was the lone area 1A state qualifier last year. She finished third at the state-qualifying meet in Pekin.
