Kalona Mayor J. D. Boyd announced at the Kalona City Council meeting August 9 that he won’t be seeking re-election to a second 4-year term.
Councilman Dave Droz also stated he does not plan to seek re-election. Jerry Kauffman said he has not yet decided on whether or not to seek a third four-year term. Those are the only three up for re-election in the November city election.
City Administrator Doug Morgan said that nomination papers are now available for anyone seeking one of the two council seats and the mayor’s post.
The first day to file nomination papers is August 23, and the last day is September 16.
A minimum of 25 signatures are required on the petitions of nomination.
