WASHINGTON
In its 17-minute meeting Tuesday, Washington County supervisors acknowledged a proposed hog confinement operation, honored a county employee for two decades of service, and formally approved a DOT budget amendment to be in line with the county’s budget.
The animal confinement feeding operation is in Section 23 of Seventy-Six Township, and acknowledgment followed a public hearing in which it was noted all regulations had been met.
Toni Hunter, a 20-year employee of the county sheriff’s department, was recognized for her years of service, a recognition that came during National Law Enforcement Week (starting May 13).
The final agenda item was a formal amendment of the Department of Transportation budget for funds for equipment purchase that had been allocated in a previous budget with purchase done in this fiscal year.
“It is a carry over,” said County Engineer Jacob Thorius, noting the initial amendment for the county was “a few weeks ago.”
The board also learned that interviews with candidates for the county Ambulance Emergency Services Administrator were held Wednesday, May 5, with the possible filling of the position in June.
During supervisors’ comments, board member Stan Stoops expressed appreciation to the sheriff’s department for its service in what is often a difficult job. Other board members concurred.
