Burton Hostetler, 40, of Kalona, died Monday, July 5, 1999, near Kalona following a sudden illness.
Services were Thursday, July 8, in Yoder Powell Funeral Home, Kalona, with the Reverend David Boshart officiating. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery near Wellman.
Born May 8, 1959, in Iowa City, he was the son of Sanford and Lucy (Gingerich) Hostetler. He graduated from Iowa Mennonite High School in 1978.
A member of West Union Mennonite Church Mr. Hostetler spent a year in Voluntary Service in Eureka, Illinois.
He lived in the Wellman and Kalona communities all his life. He worked for Pleasantview Home and, for the past eleven years, for the Kalona Cheese Factory. In his spare time, Mr. Hostetler enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his parents of Goshen, Indiana; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Nolan and Lori Hostetler of Battleground, Washington, and Joe Hostetler of Goshen; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Lyle Miller of Goshen; four nepehws and one niece; his matermal grandfather, Eldon Gingerich, Wellman, and a special friend, Mandy Shetler of Kalona.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Aaron H. and Mary Hostetler, and maternal grandmother, Wilma Gingerich.
A general memorial fund has been established.
Yoder-Powell Funeral Home, Kalona, in charge of arrangements.
