A Celebration of Flowers, organized by the Wellman Heritage Society, opens the July 4th holiday weekend in Wellman. The tour of four area gardens is set for Saturday, July 3, from 2-5:30 p.m.
Featured gardens are at the residences of Florence and Floyd Dobson, 1595 120th St., Lucinda and George Hoskins, 1580 120th St., Melanie and Mike Schweitzer, 1160 Fir Ave., and Wilma and Don Gingerich, 503 3rd St.
Gardens feature traditional, as well as new plantings.
Admission is $5 and tickets are available at the downtown Wellman Historical Museum and at each garden site the day of the event. The ticket provides admission to all four gardens on the tour, and maps come with the tickets.
A mini-bus will leave the downtown museum at 2 p.m. and at 3:30 p.m. Visitors also may arrange their own transportation.
All proceeds benefit the Heritage Society in its restoration projects.
