Christmas in Kalona

Frosty temps didn’t stop hundreds of visitors from celebrating Christmas in Kalona on Dec. 3.  The YMCA was filled with 38 vendors; 500 walking stockings were passed out; and nearly 800 folks turned out to see the reindeer in front of the library.  Visitors came from places including Centerville, Marion, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Minnesota, and Springfield, IL.

Special thanks are due all the volunteers and businesses that contributed resources to make this event a success, including those on the Christmas in Kalona committee: Olivia Kahler (Kalona Public Library), Mikayla Fisher (Pleasantview), Jan Peterseim (Beatty & Peterseim Funeral & Monument Services), Lori Wittholf (Best of Iowa), Ron Slechta (The News), Shauna McKnight (Kalona Brewing Co.), Nancy Roth (Kalona Historical Village), and Tonia Poole (Kalona Area Chamber of Commerce).
