KALONA
Plans are in place for Christmas in Kalona this Saturday, Dec. 7, although there has been a last minute change: the live nativity will not take place as expected. However, that doesn't mean live animals won't be a part of the day; a pair of adorable alpacas will be onsite instead, so kids and adults can get their fur fix and perhaps pose for a selfie.
The creatures, who call West Branch home, will be outside the Kalona Library from 10 a.m . to 2 p.m.
A full day of events awaits Kalonians and visitors alike, starting with cider and cocoa downtown and the Christmas Market at the Kalona YMCA, both starting at 9 a.m. The day concludes with a lighted golf cart parade at 5 p.m. and Kalona Optimists sled giveaway at 5:30 p.m., both at the Kalona Historical Village.
