The City of Kalona in partnership with the City of Wellman and the Wellman Goodwin Senior Dining Center will be ramping up meals to seniors in Kalona beginning November 30, according to City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh.
Meals will be delivered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week through March. On Tuesday, November 9, the city will have available forms for individuals to use for signing up. Cost of the meals will be on a sliding scale ranging from $2 to $7 based on ability to pay. For those where cost is a hardship, we’d ask that you call City Hall after the November 9 to determine eligibility for free meals.
Volunteers needed
The city is looking for volunteers that can help deliver meals to seniors in Kalona from 11:00 – roughly 11:45 Tuesday - Thursday. If you or your business would like to donate to help subsidize senior meals, we ask that you call City Hall at 319-656-2310 or email Ryan at rschlabaugh@cityofkalona.org.
