As much as snow may mean Christmas, the City of Kalona plans to remove it from the streets, starting at 4 a.m. whenever two (2) inches or more of snow is on the ground. As a result, parking on city streets during snow removal operations is prohibited.
Residents also are prohibited from pushing snow from driveways, parking lots and sidewalks onto the city streets.
It is the responsibility of property owners to remove snow and ice promptly from abutting sidewalks. If not done in a reasonable period of time, the city has a right to clear the walks and assess costs against the property.
