A citywide cleanup is planned for Saturday, May 8, jointly sponsored by the Kalona Chamber of Commerce, City of Kalona and The Kalona News.
Iowa City Cleanup and Transfer will offer specials for hauling appliances and tires.
Large containers will be set up in the Kalona City Park parking lot. Residents may deposit appliances for $5 and tires for $1. Branches can be taken to the city burn pile, west of the Kalona Sales Barn.
“Regular garbage will not be accepted,” emphasized City Administrator Doug Morgan.
Hours and other details will be announced later.
Trees Forever
The city will also have a variety of trees for sale at two for one prices under the Trees Forever grant program. Trees may be obtained at the west parking lot of the Kalona Community Center. More details next week.
Garage Sale Day
In addition, The Kalona News will sponsor a community-wide garage sale day. Participants will be able to advertise the garage sale and have their address marked with a red star on a city map for only $5.
