More than 750 paraeducators and their partnering teachers are expected to attend the Working Together: A to Z conference Tuesday, August 10, in Iowa Hall of the Kirkwood Community College campus in Cedar Rapids. The conference is sponsored by the Grant Wood Area Education Agency and the Area 10 Paraeducator Consortium.
The conferences features Deb Hansen of the Iowa Department of Education as keynote speaker, talking about The Birth of Profession. Lt. Governor Sally Pedersen also was invited. Breakout sessions will deal with physically or verbally aggressive behaviors, first aid, legal issues, meaningful activities at recess, assistive technology, communication strategies for effective teaming dealing with conflict, positive discipline and working with parents.
