RIVERSIDE
Terry Farrell, a native of Cedar Rapids who was a star on the Star Trek “Deep Space Nine” TV show, will be the featured celebrity for Trek Fest 39, which will take place June 27-29 in Riverside.
The annual parade will start at 10 a.m. June 29 on Highway 22, followed by a photo opportunity with Farrell and other celebrities.
Farrell played the role of Jadzia Dax on Deep Space Nine and also starred in “Becker,” a TV comedy series that featured Ted Danson.
Bonnie Gordon, an actress and singer, and David Q. Combs, an actor in Star Trek’s “The Next Generation,” will join Farrell at Trek Fest.
Travis Riggan of the Riverside Area Community Club, announced Trek Fest’s lineup at the Riverside City Council’s meeting Tuesday.
Riggan and the RACC requested $25,000 from the city’s hotel/motel tourism tax fund to help finance Trek Fest.
Trek Fest will open Thursday night, June 27, with a concert at Hall Park. Other festivities include a trivia contest; an autograph session; a model show; baseball, sand volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, a fireworks display and live music all three nights.
