The deadline for m…
By Sports Dept.
Iowa deer hunters are running out of time to apply for most 1999-2000 seasons.
The deadline for mail-in applications for Iowa’s shotgun and late muzzleloader deer hunting seasons was Aug. 27. It is also the first deadline for antlerless licenses, regular seasons and the special late season Jan. 11-17, 2000. If antlerless or special late season licenses are still available after the Aug. 27 deadline, the application period will be extended to Nov. 5 for regular season antlerless licenses and Jan. 3, 2000, for the special late season.
Hunters can also opt to use the telephone ordering option, which extends the application period for all regular firearm seasons to Oct. 8. The number to call for ordering licenses is 1-800-367-1188. The license fee and a $4.50 fee will be charged to your credit card.
Deer applications are available at county recorder’s and DNR offices and most licensed vendors. Hunters can use the application booklet to apply for both shotgun seasons and the late muzzleloader season. Applications for paid bow, antlerless and special late season licenses are also available at all county recorder’s offices.
