Dianne M. Platteter, 52, of Riverside, died Sunday, July 18, 1999, in Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, of cancer.
Memorial services are 3 p.m. Thursday, July 22, in Trinity United Methodist Church, Riverside. Visitation was from 3-8 p.m., Wednesday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City and also from 2 p.m. until services in the church Thursday. In accordance to her wishes, she has been cremated.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Washington County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Born June 25, 1947 in rural Johnson County near Solon, she was the daughter of Charles G. and Dorothy M. (Wall) See. She graduated from Solon High School and Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids with a degree in food service management.
She married Bruce Platteter September 18, 1971, in the Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.
The couple has resided in Riverside since 1972.
Mrs. Platteter was director of food service for Atrium Village, Hills, for more than eleven years. Prior to that she worked in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Veterans Administration Hospital, both in Iowa City.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Riverside, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 555, Ely, VFW of Riverside, Iowa Valley Region Antique Automobile Club of Iowa City, Cedar Rapids Antique Car Club, Iowa City Cruisamatic Club and was a supporter of 4-H.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce; one daughter, Alicia Marie Platteter of Riverside; two sons, Wayne A. Platteter and Carl G. Platteter, both of Riverside; one granddaughter, Tessa Beale of Riverside; her father, Charles G. See of Solon; three brothers, Lawrence See of Iowa City, David See of Lisbon and James See of Swisher; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary See and Lee Dorland of Winterset, Carol and Timothy Moore of Lisbon, and Patricia See of Elberon.
She was preceded in death by her mother, one brother, Charles E. See, and a brother and sister at birth.
Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, in charge of arrangements.
