Don L. Miller, 79, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Elkhart Hospital, Elkhart, Indiana.
He was born Oct. 31, 1943, in Kalona, Iowa the son of Raymond G. and Nettie (Bender) Miller.
On Jan. 25, 1964, he married Isabell J. Van der Werf in Kalona, Iowa.
She survives along with two sons: Tony (Leah) Miller of Goshen, Indiana and A.J. (Bonnie) Miller of Foley, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Madison Miller, Quinn Miller, Jade I. Omic’, Michelle, Elizabeth, and Noah Miller; a sister: Barbara Longoria of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a brother: Arden (Patricia) Miller of Iowa City, Iowa.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Don Miller Jr.; a daughter: Michelle Omic’; two granddaughters: Emina and Leila Omic’; and two sisters: Margaret Miller and Treva Tenner.
A graduate of Iowa Mennonite School, now known as Hillcrest Academy, Don was a life-long Iowa Hawkeye sports fan. He worked as a bulk milk truck driver and drove school buses for Concord and Goshen Community Schools before retirement.
Don loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren, who knew him as “Pakka”.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at River Oaks Community Church, Goshen, where Don was a member.
Burial will take place at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 10 a.m. Following the burial, a reception for the family will be held at Kalona Mennonite Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
