Donald D. Patterson, 91, of Washington, passed from this life Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at his grandson’s home in Washington. According to his wishes his body will be cremated, and no services will be held. A memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer's Association and donations can be sent to the Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home, 107 S. 15th Avenue, Washington, Iowa.
Donald Duane Patterson was born Feb. 2, 1933, in Washington, Iowa, the son of James and Wilma (Foster) Patterson. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School and served in the United States Marine Corps. Don worked for Yoder Feeds in Frytown and farmed outside of Wellman. He enjoyed woodworking, sprint car races in Knoxville, chocolate ice cream and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His mind was sharp right up to the end of his life.
Survivors include his brother: Marion Patterson of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; three grandchildren: Michael Patterson of Washington, Amy Vazquez of Washington, and Christian Patterson of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; five grandchildren: Peyton, Taylor, Damian, Elijah and Zoey; and two daughters-in-law: Patricia Cash of Kuna, Idaho and Beth Patterson of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Preceding Don in death were his parents; a son: Brian Patterson; and two brothers: Bob and James Patterson.
