Services were Friday, May 14, in the George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium with the Reverend Dr. Tom Finley Brown officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Dr. Jacques was born February 22, 1918, in Galva, the son of Harry and Lillis Ann (Clapsaddle) Jacques. He graduated from Galva High School in 1935 and the University of Iowa School of Medicine in 1942.

Dr. Lewis Henry Jacques, 81, of Iowa City died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, in his home following a brief illness.

Services were Friday, May 14, in the George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium with the Reverend Dr. Tom Finley Brown officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Dr. Jacques was born February 22, 1918, in Galva, the son of Harry and Lillis Ann (Clapsaddle) Jacques. He graduated from Galva High School in 1935 and the University of Iowa School of Medicine in 1942.

He married Evelyn Marthetta Kehne December 20, 1941, in Iowa City.

Dr. Jacques practiced medicine in Lone Tree from 1946-1957, when the couple moved to Iowa City. He retired in 1984.

Dr. Jacques served as a physician and was a major in the U. S. Army from 1943-1946. He was with Merrill’s Marauders.

He was a member of the Iowa City Masonic Lodge No. 4, KAABA Shrine, Iowa City Shrine Club, past president of the Iowa Medical Association and was a 50-year member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of Iowa City; two sons, Tim Jacques of Pasadena, California, and Paul Jacques of Iowa City, and one sister, Harriet Moyer of Phoenix, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Colene Anne, and one brother, Jerome Everett Jacques.
