Edna (Hochstetler) Miller was born Dec. 21, 1934, in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Aaron and Mary Hochstetler. She attended Oakland School through 8th grade.

On Oct. 17, 1954, she was united in marriage to (Elwood) Gene Miller, at East Union Mennonite Church rural Kalona. She was baptized in her youth at East Union Mennonite. She had been a faithful member of Kalona Mennonite Church for over 60 years.

After raising five children she worked at Economy Advertising in Iowa City retiring from there in 1999. Edna enjoyed participating in WSMC at Kalona Mennonite. She was a talented artist, enjoyed drawing, canvas painting, and painting ceramics.

Edna passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at Halcyon House in Washington at the age of 86 years.

Survivors include daughter: Evie (Daniel) Bender of Kalona; sons; Jerry (Lou Ann) Miller of Kalona, Cal Miller of Round Rock Texas, Phil (Karol) Miller of Iowa City, and Galen Miller of Kalona; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Gene; sisters: Ruby Cutshall and Gladys Smith; brothers: Franklin, Samuel, and infant brother; and great-granddaughter: Eliza Bender

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will be at Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice.
