El Guanaco fills restaurant void in Lone Tree

New has always been good.

But this new is great.

For Lone Tree, the new is El Guanaco, a Salvadorian/Mexican restaurant opened by Rodolfo and Ana Ramirez in mid-June. It operates in the heart of downtown, next to city hall at 113 N Devoe St., the former site of Gussy’s.

If this style cuisine isn’t your cup of tea, they also serve the American standard, burgers with fries.

El Guanaco is the definition of a family business, a dwindling model. Helping the owners are their three kids: Yessica, Johana and Karen. They moved to Lone Tree about a year ago from El Salvador.

Opening a restaurant has always been a dream of Rodolfos’. He worked as a baker in the past, baking various breads, but El Guanaco is his to freely control.

His favorite thing to cook in the kitchen is chicken. This favoritism could be seen on the menu where chicken is an option for many different dishes such as flautas and burritos.

The Ramirez family has greatly enjoyed the first few weeks of business and hopes to serve Lone Tree residents for a long time coming. If things work out, they’d love to expand into other nearby cities. But for now, they’ll focus on the order and full dinner ahead.
