Born May 24, 1919 in Centerville, Michigan, he was the son of Menno L. and Mattie (Hochstetler) Borntrager. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Emanuel M. Borntrager, 80, of rural Kalona, died Sunday, January 9, in his home following a brief illness.
Services were Wednesday, January 12, in the Clayton Borntrager residence at 2440 105th St., Kalona, with Bishop Rudy Miller officiating. Burial was in Peter Miller Cemetery.
Born May 24, 1919 in Centerville, Michigan, he was the son of Menno L. and Mattie (Hochstetler) Borntrager. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Swartzentruber October 21, 1945 near Kalona. In December of 1975 he was ordained as a minister of the Old Order Amish Church.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of Kalona; five children and their spouses, Magdalena and Jerry Schrock, Edith Borntrager, Ivan and Mary Lou Borntrager, Clayton and Anna Mae Borntrager, Wilma and E. Dale Miller, all of Kalona; thirty grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Eli and Katie Borntrager and John Borntrager, all of Kalona; and a sister and her husband, Lizzie and John Henry Miller of Kalona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Alton Borntrager and Neil Borntrager; and two sisters, Barbara (Mrs. Sam) Chupp and Mary (Mrs. Jacob) Gingerich.
