Born April 3, 1909, near Kalona, she was the daughter of Isaac and Barbara (Yoder) Helmuth. She married Joe Hershberger September 28, 1933, near Kalona were they lived on the same farm all their married life.

Emma Hershberger, 90, of Kalona, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, in her home following a brief illness.

Services were Saturday, May 22, in the Duane V. Bontrager residence, rural Kalona. Bishops Paul T. Miller and Vernon Yoder were in charge. Burial was in the East Union Cemetery near Kalona.

Born April 3, 1909, near Kalona, she was the daughter of Isaac and Barbara (Yoder) Helmuth. She married Joe Hershberger September 28, 1933, near Kalona were they lived on the same farm all their married life.

Mrs. Hershberger was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Survivors include her husband, Joe; two sons and daughters-in-law, Homer and Susie Hershberger of Leon, and John D. and Alma Hershberger of Kalona; seven daughters and four sons-in-law, Ruby and Junior L. Miller of Phoenix, Arizona, Tressa and Jim Mallard of Oneida, Kentucky, Alta and Vernon Bontrager of Iowa City, Mary and Emory Miller of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, Nina Hershberger, Linda Hershberger and Joye Hershberger, all of Kalona; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hersh-berger of Kalona; twenty-six grandchildren; sixty-four great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gordon Hersh-berger; one daughter, Judy Hersh-berger; an infant granddaughter; two infant great-grandsons; five brothers and five sisters. She was the last of the Isaac Helmuth family.
