Born July 6, 1903, in Washington, she was the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Sullivan) Dean. She attended St. James Catholic School, Washington, and married Ivo Grady May 6, 1924, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Richmond.
Ernestine Grady, 95, of Kalona, died Sunday, June 6, 1999, in Parkview Manor, Wellman, following a lengthy illness.
Services were Wednesday, June 9, at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Richmond, with the Reverend Mark Swanson officiating. Burial was in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona.
Born July 6, 1903, in Washington, she was the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Sullivan) Dean. She attended St. James Catholic School, Washington, and married Ivo Grady May 6, 1924, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Richmond.
Mrs. Grady was a homemaker and tour guide for Kalona Historical Society for many years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Alpha Study Club of Kalona.
Survivors include one son, Al Grady of Iowa City; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary and David Ashby, Marion, and Gretchyn Swantz, Kalona; twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974, one son-in-law, Jonas Swantz, and two sisters, Hazel Coffey and Ethel Dean.
Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the Kalona Historical Society.
