Ezra “Ez” J. Ropp, 86, of Middlebury, Indiana, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at his residence. He was born Oct. 19, 1936, in Iowa City, to Jeff and Laura (Bontrager) Ropp. On Nov. 27, 1974, in Middlebury, he married Mary Eash.
Survivors include his wife: Mary; three daughters: Gail (Lynn) Schrock, Sheila (Doug) Beachy, and Eydie (Tim) Kozlowski all of Middlebury; four grandchildren: Chandler and Erin Beachy and Caleb and Emily Schrock; three sisters; and three brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.
Ez was the owner/operator of Ropp’s Construction for 40 years. He enjoyed spending his time volunteering with Habitat and MDS (Mennonite Disaster Services). He was a member of the First Mennonite Church. Ez and his wife spent the past 21 years enjoying the winter months in Florida.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services were conducted by Pastors Phil Yoder and Tim Eash. Burial was in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to the Middlebury Food Pantry.
