New officers for the Mid-Prairie Chapter of the FFA are Tasha Juilfs, president; Michael Huston, vice-president; Laren Garrett, secretary; Brad Kinsinger, treasurer; Kerstin Hartzler, reporter; Jesse Gingerich, sentinel; Kyle Gingerich, student advisor; Amanda Brenneman, historian; Kally Boehmer, parliamentarian; Mike Norman, chaplain. Advisor is Elsa Schmidt.
Mid-Prairie was represented at the State Leadership Conference where it won eight awards. They are Model of Innovation finalist; Three-Star National; Chapter; Gold Chapter Display Exhibit; WHO Publicity Award; Des Moines Register Journalism Award; Silver, State Ag Marketing Plan; Bronze, State Farm Business Management Team, and three Iowa FFA Degree Recipients.
District Officer camp was July 98-10 at Crooked Creek Christian Camp in rural Washington.
Freshman Orientation will be Thursday, August 5, at the high school, starting at 6 p.m.
FFA members will take part in the local county fairs. The Washington County Fair is July 20-24.
The POA Camping Trip was at Saylorville Lake near Des Moines with ten officers and two chairmen attending. Officers toured Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, and discussed program activities.
Jesse Gingerich, Mike Norman and Micah Peck planted the soybean plot near Brophy Feed.
Those interested in attending the Iowa State Fair to serve as an usher should contact Tasha Juilfs or Elsa Schmidt. Members showing livestock are Kyle Troyer, Michelle and Michael Huston and Julia Stuzman.
The chapter will have a display at the State Fair.
