Born December 14, 1922 in Ainsworth, she was the daughter of Frederick Wood and Julia Ellen (Ballard) Dawson. She married Donald Butterbaugh October 14, 1939 in Joetown.
Frances Lee Nupp, 76, of Wellman died Tuesday, October 5, 1999 in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness.
Services were Friday, October 8, in Powell Funeral Home, Wellman, with the Reverend Gene Carpenter officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Joetown.
Born December 14, 1922 in Ainsworth, she was the daughter of Frederick Wood and Julia Ellen (Ballard) Dawson. She married Donald Butterbaugh October 14, 1939 in Joetown.
Her husband passed away in February, 1973 and she married Frank D. Nupp September 1, 1973 in Coal Valley, Illinois. Mr. Nupp died in September, 1982.
Mrs. Nupp lived in the Ainsworth, Welston and Rubio communities before moving to Wellman in 1953.
She worked for Maplecrest Turkey Farms for five years and in the Mid-Prairie Community School hot lunch program for eighteen years.
Mr. and Mrs. Nupp owned and operated Frank & Fran’s in Wellman from 1971-1981. She worked in Casey’s General Store in Wellman for five years before retiring in 1992.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jim Patterson of Cedar Rapids; three step-children, Carmen Radel of Wever, Jennifer McDowell of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Frankie Nupp of Brighton; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, David Meyer of Monmouth, Illinois; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Fred and Carol Dawson of Cedar Rapids and Jim Dawson of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one daughter, Donna Meyer; two brothers, Rex Dawson and Richard Dawson; and two sisters, Jane Rich and Barbara Rich.
Memorials may be made to the Wellman Senior Center.
