Gehman leads Panthers with 23 points in road win

Pathway hit the road for a non conference matchup against the Tate Warriors on Friday night, December 10th.  

Tate was hot early leading 18-11 after five minutes gone by in the opening period.  Pathway turned up the defensive pressure helping them go on a 28-5 run over the final 10 minutes of the first half, taking a 39-23 lead into the locker room.  

The Panthers carried the momentum into the third quarter, outscoring the Warriors 23-20 in the period to take a 62-43 lead.  Pathway was able to hold the Warriors to three fourth quarter points, helping them to a 70-46 win.  

Senior Jackson Gehman led the Panther scoring with 23 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and 5 assists.  Senior Tanner Miller scored 11 to go with 6 rebounds. Sophomore Blayde Lybarger also scored 11, while pulling down a team high 11 rebounds to go with 3 steals. 

Senior Micah Hostetler scored 9 points, to go with 7 rebounds and 3 assists.  Junior Lucas Yutzy scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.  Senior Isaac Dhooge had a pair of baskets to round out the Panther scoring. 

“We are making strides in our effort and execution on both ends,” Pathway coach Aaron Gingerich said.  “The guys are putting in the work to improve.  It was fun to see that pay off tonight.”  

Pathway moves to 3-4 on the year and remains 1-1 in the NICC. 

 

Faith 66, Pathway 44

Pathway hosted the conference favorite Faith Falcons Tuesday night, December 7th.  

Faith jumped out to a 18-12 lead after a quarter and extended their lead to 31-17 at the break.  The Falcons outscored Pathway 15-12 in the third quarter to take a 46-29 lead into the final period.  Trailing 50-29, Pathway was able to go on an 11-4 run capped by a Jackson Gehman three, making it a 54-40 score with five minutes to play.  Faith was able to fend off the Panther run and win going away, 66-44. 

Pathway was led by Jackson Gehman’s 18 points including two triples.  Gehman also pulled down 7 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, and recorded 6 steals. Tanner Miller scored 10, also knocking in a pair of threes.  Blayde Lybarger and Lucas Yutzy each scored 6 and Micah Hostetler rounded out the scoring with a pair of baskets to go with 7 rebounds.  Lybarger grabbed 6 rebounds for the Panthers. 

“We had a couple good runs in both halves which we can build on,” Pathway coach Aaron Gingerich said. “Faith has a very nice team and their size and athleticism made it tough for us.”
